A neighborhood with nice old growth trees and underbrush across the street...between two dead-end roads so all the houses looked into the small forest. Sometimes a fox was seen there.
My friends who lived on either of these streets bewailed when the trees were cleared out and construction began.
You can see the remaining forest. I wonder if it will go the same way and become condos.
This is the mark of progress. We have a housing shortage, but the ones developers are constructing aren't within the price range of those who work hourly jobs and keep our infrastructures running. These will be bought by more tourists wanting to live in the mountains.

Delete...we are doing a major renovation on our house, the cost are staggering. Housing is a huge problem for many today.

DeleteI don't know where the rest of NC would be on this...but Black Mountain is over the US median... "Median rent in Wisconsin, 2016 to 2020, was $872. For the U.S., the median was $1,096" .
DeleteSpeculation- on the part of developers, builders, and real estate agents. All pricing things beyond where they should be.

ReplyDeleteYes, and the contractors will probably be required to plant a couple of trees on the lots when the construction is finished.
DeleteHouse prices here are way over the top. People can't even afford to rent a one bedroom apt that goes for €800. Rents are going up and up and the need is great for more new places. They say the market if it keeps going this way will collapse.
