More Blue Ridge Parkway colors

Of course these photos were taken Oct. 15, 2023. There may be much better color, and at even lower elevations as the week progresses.

From the Pisgah Inn with low clouds and really cold photographer, who dashed to the car. If the sun had been out, the reds and yellows would have shown better. Fair warning however, the Inn closes Oct. 31. However, I think you can still go out on the terraces, but I have no idea about the parking situation then.

The south facing cliffs gave lots of red colors, when we stopped at this overlook on the way north to Asheville.

We could see many hills and mountains, but not much color was evident (no color enhancement on this photo!)

This photo might have popped a bit with some photo editing...not done however.

And I tried a pano shot, which just looks dull actually.

Our next stop...
Bad Fork Valley Overlook is also used in one of my headers. I did a bit of editing for them, but this is just the way it came out of the iPhone.

Again, the south facing hill opposite the overlook showed the brilliant colors we'd been experiencing along the road. So we were totally thrilled at leaf peeping this day!

Today's quote:

Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except the best. -Henry van Dyke, poet (10 Nov 1852-1933)

  1. Hello,
The colors next to the road look beautiful. Maybe it is not peak time for the colors. Take care, have a great day!

    1. I'm amazed how dull some of the photos look, when we took them we thought those were just beautiful colors! Oh well. Being there is the main thing.

  4. It doesn't seem to be the best year or the best viewing conditions for great colour. But it is colour still.
