In Black Mountain on Sunday, February 24 at 7:30 pm this women's choir will present
"Lady of Ten Thousand Names"
at The White Horse, a concert venue with refreshments.
Poetry, two lovely dancers, and a solo performance by Stephanie Heidemann will round out the program.
Sahara is a name chosen to blend the names of two matriarchs of ancient religious, Sarah and Hagar, who gave birth to Abraham's two sons. This choir sings several times a year to raise funds for women's non-profits.
I'm sharing this with Sepia Saturday (here) because it's 1) a posed photograph and 2) a company of strangers who have come together (here for singing). Check out other photographs (mostly vintage) and great stories at that meme.

Good luck to the ladies in the choir. I, too, am in not one, but two choirs. One with a Folkchoir at a Roman Catholic church on Saturday evenings, and the other a Senior choir at a United Church. Lots of varieties of songs/hymns. Our new organist/director at the United church comes from a Baptist church, like I said, lots of varietes!!!! Wish I could attend, seems I am always stuck in a snow storm lately.....

ReplyDeleteThe concert was fabulous, but poor competition to Oscars. What's wrong with folks that could have seen a live performance rather than the canned celebration of awards (and some good jokes) about the movie industry? Well, they missed the one and only performance of these 15 or so songs, including poetry, dance and some solos. I was so thrilled I'll blog about it!
