For Sepia Saturday there's a lovely photo of some boys all lined up, like school photos. The windows behind them have leaves on them, so there must have been fall decorations. Though I would have guessed the boy's ages at 6-8, they are all in long pants, which says it's a more modern school than those in the past where little boys didn't get long pants till they were almost teens.

After learning his name, I said to myself, yes I can see the older man in this. But also didn't know who he was.

ReplyDeleteI don't think my grandmother wore anything like that in the 50s. So perhaps they were a specialty item, and that's why the lady is showing them off.

DeleteI'd seen that photo of John Wayne before. He was certainly a cutie when he was young & pretty good lookin' when he got older. The tricycle is something else! And what in the world is that English woman doing with her skirts lifted up & her pantaloons on display??? :)

DeleteI actually recognized John Wayne as I recently stumbled across the Western from which that photo came from. It was a 1930 movie called "The Big Trail" and it was his first lead role. Even though it has a formula plot, it was filmed with a wide screen format and a huge cast so it's a pretty good film. And I'd like to have seen how the masons made that brick mobius arch. Clever craftsmanship.
