Several weeks ago I drove for the first time to the YMCA Blueridge Assembly, which is a local retreat and conference and summer camp location on the side of the valley across from my home.
So a friend wanted to drive around a bit, and was willing to go to the retreat center, on Good Friday. We weren't sure if there were events happening that weekend or not, because many schools just started their Spring Break. when the Blueridge Assembly starts up in operation, we won't be able to cruise on the driveways then.
Lovely approach with the old trees lining the drive. I think of how in a few months greyhound size busses will deliver people here for a week of whatever topic is of interest to them.
Former "Lee Hall" is now Eureka Hall. Something about honoring a Confederate leader that is now politically incorrect.
The back of Eureka Hall.
Another nice building with many rocking chairs on it's wrap-around veranda.
And I noticed the bare ground with grey trees along the exit drive last time, but this time I stopped for a photo. All this area is part of a huge Frisbee golf course.
My friend mentioned she had come here when much younger during the winter to play in the snow on one of the fields that are off to the side of this road.

Deletelovely row of old trees
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty, and I hope won't have problems with various diseases/insects that come through our mountains.
DeleteIt's very pretty there. A veranda like that is nice.
