Church Yard Sale and Fesitval

As co-chair of this event, I'll be at my local church working hard receiving donations all week, and then...the big festival is next Saturday...(so please add it to your calendar!)

Trillium - A Festival of Follies and Flings, our annual event, is being held Saturday, May 3, 8-3 at UUCSV.
Baked goodies, plants, books, furniture, household goods, antiques, jewelry, tools, toys, etc. will be for sale. (No clothes, mattresses, electronics, or junk.)

The children's festival will have face painting and fun games sponsored by our Religious Education department.

This huge yard sale's profits will be used for the work of our UUCSV church, and to support our partner church in Romania. 

Donations may be dropped by the church the week of April 27 (after church) through May 2, 10-7, and forms are available for tax deductions.

Actually this is a weeping cherry tree in the couryard.

But across the street is a fine example of an ornamental cherry tree.

The thing about late blossoms is that they may burst faster and fall faster if there are lots of warm days.  I hope not.  But they are a good 2 weeks later than last year.  In another day my whole studio will be inundated with pink light.  Then when petals fall, it will look like pink snow.

Vintage Car and house

I was taking a picture of this lovely old house, when this vintage car just rolled right into the picture.

I mainly wanted to know the names of the flowers that are matching the shutters, flowers spill over the rock walls. I've since learned that these are a kind of spreading phlox.  I doubted it when I heard that, because phlox in my mind were tall.  But these apparently are too.

Springtime blooming

In honor of Earth Day this year, do one more thing for the earth each day. That was my New Years Resolution this year. I miss the mark many times, but it is the only worthy goal I've ever had for a whole year. And without it, I might not be here (nor you) next year.

 

Across the corner from the house that's being rennovated is this lovely home with a "yard" that just blooms with all kinds of loveliness all year.
