North Carolina, some waterfalls near me

I'm very fortunate to live in Western North Carolina. I can drive an hour or so to see lots of waterfalls. DuPont Forest is south of me...a N.C. Recreational Forest which means someone keeps the paths maintained, the restrooms clean (if they are open) and the trash receptacles emptied.

Actually, I've not hiked much so have not seen these falls posted above. But I have visited one nearby which looks a lot like the one Sepia Saturday shared this week.

It should be noted that these are natural falls, not those coming over a dam built by men.

There are several falls by this name.

Not far from Bridal Falls is "Dry Falls...which I posted about HERE. It's one you can walk under, but not necessarily stay dry.

North of my home is the upper falls at Linnville Falls.

And south of Black Mountain is Looking Glass Falls.

There are certainly more falls to explore.

A new President

Today, Joe Biden is being sworn in as our new President of the US. After Jan 6's terrorist action by Republican thugs storming the Capitol, many people demanded tRump be prosecuted for egging the Republicans on to the terrorist actions. Here's my post from that horrible event.

But today hope is allowed to shine for a few moments. Hope that the healing Joe Biden talks about is possible. And hope that the pandemic can soon be controlled. And as one of the Women's March participants for a few years of tRump's presidency, I'm elated that Kamala Harris will be our new Vice President.

THE SEVENTH PRINCIPLE, IMANI (FAITH), teaches us to believe in the good and our capacity to achieve it, share it, and leave it as a worthy legacy for those who come afterward. Let us have faith, then, in the sacred teachings of our ancestors which say to us across millennia: “Let’s do things with joy for surely humans have been divinely chosen to bring good in the world” and this is the fundamental mission and meaning of human life. Thus, chosen by history and heaven to constantly strive to bring good in the world, we must audaciously and ceaselessly dare to do so. So, let’s continue the struggle. Keep the faith. Hold the line. Love and respect our people and each other. Seek and speak truth. Do and demand justice. Be constantly concerned with the well-being of the world and all in it. And dare help rebuild the overarching movement that pre-figures and makes possible the good world we all want and deserve to live in and leave as a legacy worthy of the name and history African.

This series is being published as support of the Black Lives Matter movement. African Americans may or may not celebrate this holiday, which was devised in their honor. I find it a most inspiring series of thoughtful principles - one for each of seven days.
