Autumnal Equinox

No I'm not dancing neked (as my neighbors here in the south of US would pronounce it) around any bonfires to celebrate a Pagan ritual.
I might once have though!

But for this equinox, I'm taking myself out to enjoy the balance between 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night...and it's not just in the northern hemisphere this solar/gaia event...all over the world, perfect balance.

And yesterday I received a good quote to share for today.
If planetary peace seems beyond our reach, recall: Miracles are natural when we rely on the Source of All to carry our burdens with us. Then, even peace is possible.

Saluda Part 6

Duck Alley had 3 buildings with similar styles and paint colors, very nicely done.

In front of the one right on the highway was a man busy sanding a bench.

He was being watched by this sweet spaniel type dog, who Helen had to give some loving to.

But apparently dog belonged to someone else, perhaps in the real estate office behind him.

More on Duck Alley tomorrow!

Saluda part 5

A quick stop in the basement store (sorry I didn't get it's name) which had lots of antiques and treasures, including my set of Correll dinner ware.  I didn't look at the price.

Then we looked in other businesses...

A historic marker, but no beauty shop any longer.

This is the restaurant which was not open at 11 when we arrived in town but it was open by 12.

Nothing like the juxtoposition of art and necesary stuff.

I was impressed that a gallery owner had decorated the recycle bin out front.

Spring in Saluda...or part 4

No this didn't take place in springtime.
It's about a real spring.
Right behind the police station.

My friend Helen said "let's go see what's up this way...
Spring Park.

We first saw the tree...of course...and some walkways and rock walls.

But as we walked out of the basement level store next to the park, we discovered there's really a spring in this pocket park.

Quote for today:

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but, scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.

Art in Bloom Memories - 4

Great license plate belonging to a creative woman!

Of course our gardener hostess had to point out something about the fountain

Next door through the slats on the porch, I was being watched by this cat (look left of tree)

Sweet little guest house provides its own porch with rockers

Susan's front gate was open for the tour both days in June, as her 2 dogs were being tended elsewhere.

A couple of the frogs in the frog garden.
Quote for today:

Sitting with our sadness takes the courage to believe that we can bear the pain and we will come out the other side.
