While chasing various types of blossoms this spring, daffodils, forsythia, pear trees, cherry trees - I also saw the delicate Redbud trees in different places around town and in the woods.
They used to be the first to show themselves, but for some reason this year, they are a bit tardy.
All along the railroad tracks by US 70 west and the Ingles Warehouse, are these redbud trees.
And still blooming, a weeping cherry tree as of 3.28.24. I can now tell the difference between a redbud blossom and a cherry blossom!
Today's quote:
“I’m only a jolly storyteller and have nothing to do with politics or schemes and my only plan is the old Chinese way of the Tao: Avoid the authorities.”
Jack Kerouac (1922-1969)

We are snow-covered. These delight me.
ReplyDeleteGlad to share our fleeting spring...today won't be warm at all, and snow perhaps (which might stick on the peaks which I can perhaps see at least from a distance).
DeleteI love the Redbud trees, they look beautiful. Our Redbud is way the trees in your area. Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHave a good Wednesday, Eileen.
Delete...here, cherries are out, but the redbuds haven't made their appearance.
ReplyDeleteThat's what happened here this spring.. I don't remember cherries having been before them in years past...but maybe just because they are located in urban yards, while most redbuds were along roads in the wild forest.
DeleteCurious , I don't think I have ever seen a redbud tree- is it because I live in the PNW ? The trees along the tracks are story telling!

Deletewhen I tried to find its range, I only found that it was actually called Eastern Redbud. Of course the trees along the tracks aren't like the wild ones out in the woods. Wonder what your first springtime flowering trees are there in PNW?
DeleteI love seeing spring blooming there and the beautiful blue skies. I also love that you have a Kerouac quote today. I'm a big fan, which explains why we named our old blog The New Dharma Bums! (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that, Robin. Dharma isn't a word I use that often. Will have to let it soak in a while.
DeleteNice pics of the redbuds. Our redbuds are in full bloom here in Western Kentucky, but my cherry tree blooms are done. I love when Spring arrives and brings so much beauty from nature.
ReplyDeleteWe've had high winds to day (Thursday) and so many blooms may be blown away. They say the wind will keep a freeze from happening tonight. But still expect snow in the highest mountains. I'll try to go get photos if they have it still in the morning.
DeleteOh how I love the Redbud trees, saw them first in the Smokies. We have two growing in our yard, but have to trim them to large shrub size.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're growing your own redbuds. They are nice even when kept small.
DeleteLovely to see spring is starting. Are you in Wisconsin? We only have Forsithia starting by me, I saw some April 3 yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI'm in western North Carolina, near Asheville. I do have friends who live in Wisconsin. Yes, Forsythia and daffodils are the beginning of spring!
DeleteVery pleasant to ramble with you through your spring! Aloha!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Cloudia!
DeleteI just realized you are in NC...
ReplyDeleteHi there!
DeleteRedbuds self-sow, a gift from Mother Nature to delight these hills.
ReplyDeleteAren't they wonderful!
DeleteI love your quote! I've never thought I would feel that way. I have a Japanese cherry tree in front of my house, but sadly it doesn't look well. I may have to cut it down. Gladly, there are many cherry, apple an pear trees on the property that start blooming. All the best to you, Regula
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear of all your blooming trees...and it sounds like you might also have fruit!
DeleteThis warms my heart. We've just had 4" of snow!
ReplyDeleteOur expected snow probably won't stick, because it was in the high 70s for the last 3 days. I hope you don't have to pull out the snowblower for that little amount, and that it melts soon!
DeleteSo pretty! I am afraid the blooms may get bit in the next few days, with the weather we are getting.
ReplyDeleteOur Redbud trees are out in full bloom here on our farm. I always enjoy seeing them in the spring. Thank you for linking up.
