Music at the high school gym -turned potters market

 We enjoyed the music off an on during the day, from 10-4.

The crowd came in the upstairs doors starting at 10 am.

My friend Michelle had some nice hand formed pieces for vases or serving dishes.

 Late afternoon and almost nobody was coming through!

I was glad to see someone had an empty plate holder.

 I happily shared a booth with Cathy Babula, and here she's putting her little tree together...

 ...on which she hung delightful lace impressed ornaments.

She had 2 series of works on display...the newer bowls with various organic designs, and older pieces with glazes overlapping in greens and browns.

Retailing pottery

Today I'm off in the high school gym at McDowell High School in Marion NC, selling my pottery (I hope.)

I could not do this without the help of friends.  Tim is helping cart everything over there from Black Mountain, and will help bring it all home also.  That's tables, and bins of pottery mainly.

We are fortunate to be inside where it's dry and heated.  I'm not doing any more outdoor shows (in this lifetime.)

And my trusty friend Cathy Babula and I share our booth.  I have a lot of pottery.  She has just returned to potting, and will have some beautiful pieces, though not as many as me.

If you're thinking of shopping there this Saturday, (10-4) be warned...the crowds come early to get the best bargains.  And the sales are really slow after 2 pm, so you won't be bumping into everyone else...but you might miss getting what you really need/want to purchase!

Traveling NORTH on US 221 or NC 226: Just after crossing I-40, US 221 and NC 226 merge to become the Marion Bypass (US 221/NC 226). Travelers on NC 226 should continue STRAIGHT. Travelers on US 221 should TURN LEFT onto the Marion Bypass. After about 5 miles the Bypass will end in a large intersection with Big Lots on the left and Taco Bell on the right. TURN LEFT. Go STRAIGHT through two intersections and TURN LEFT at the third. You will see a sign for West McDowell Junior High School. McDowell High is up the hill past the Junior High. Travel Time from I-40: 11 minutes Traveling EAST on I-40 from Asheville: Take EXIT 72 (Hwy 70 / Old Fort). WARNING: SLOW DOWN and follow the speed limit after leaving the Interstate. You will be traveling along main street in the town of Old Fort and the speed limit goes down to 35 MPH. Continue STRAIGHT on Hwy 70 for about 11 miles. When you come to the third intersection with a sign for West McDowell Junior High School, TURN RIGHT. McDowell High is up the hill past the Junior High. Travel Time from I-40: 12 minutes Traveling WEST on I-40 from Hickory: Take EXIT 86 (NC 226) and TURN RIGHT at the end of the ramp. Continue STRAIGHT through two intersections and onto US 221/NC 226 (Marion Bypass).
