Some of my home shots

I spend most of my life here, so I wanted to share more of my good home base.

Early June, and my porch is a bit bare compared to other years. (mmm, was somebody sick again?)

A past view of the porch. But most of the older plants have been stricken by the fungus, which is why none have come over from the wintertime.

At the office/club house building, there are nice porches also.

With some pretty planters as well.

I call the folks who sit here most days the rocking chair gang...not to their faces though. But wait, they said the same when organizing the hot dog pot luck for the Fourth of July.

There's a handy laundry facility

And each apartment's mail box.

We've been decorated since Memorial Day with more flags about.

Looking down the hill from the top parking lot, you can see the parallel buildings stacked along the hill.

And a clear view of the mountains on the other side of the valley. (Office building on left)

Today's quote:

We all have to do things in our life that we don't want to, and the easiest solution is to change our attitude.

Mountain Laurel!

Oh how happy I am to see the lilies of the valley have returned through the bed of mulch.  I missed seeing if they bloomed, but it's great to see them survive!

I walked around the end of my apartment building and down the hill to the next one...there were beautiful blooms all over this bush...Mountain Laurel.  The one next to my apartment is still buds, only it's probably something else. I'll let you see as soon as the buds open.

As I turned to walk back up the hill, I could see my postage stamp balcony, between living room and bedroom windows.  We have 4 upper level apartments over 4 lower ones, and never run into the folks who live on the other level.

First spring, in February 2019

We all know this isn't real spring.  Even with crazy climate changes, there's more freezing weather to come.  It has always happened. (But there's a bit of hope that it won't...ha ha ha.)

I wish sometimes that I'd visited here at Blue Ridge Apartments before the new owners, and the renovations.  If they hadn't torn everything apart to put in new things, I wouldn't have had a chance to move here unless an older tenant was so frustrated she moved elsewhere. I really love having new carpet, new appliances, new kitchen and bathroom cabinets!

But outside is a bit different.  Put new siding on old buildings and you know what can happen.  There's a lot of siding now that has green growing on it where the sun doesn't shine.

In the past the grounds may have had more flowers (almost certainly) as a result of many gardener type grands living here.  The remains are a few bulbs which come up every spring.  Some no longer come up though, because the grounds crew has spread mulch on all the beds to deter anything from growing there (a.k.a. Roundup.)

There used to be a bed of beautiful lilies of the valley.

Out in lawn areas, which are swept with huge machines weekly during the growing season, a few bulbs still live.  Or next to a tree, where the new mowers can't cut them back.

A rocky area with tree roots everywhere is host to many little crocuses.
