What one thing would you give up?

Is there something that you are willing to give up to have another thing of much value that has always seemed out of reach?

This sounds like a lifetime desire, but I'm actually thinking of more immediate thoughts.

Perhaps a habit (this comes to my mind first) that keeps me from reaching my exercise goals? The habit is sitting at computer mainly.

Or the habit (noticing a theme here) that says I can always eat sweets, somehow not connecting them to my desire to lost those last 10 pounds?

I don't know what I want enough to give up the other thing. That's the quandary.

This Saturday I was smacked with fever and a fever blister on my septum on my nose...so stayed home from the market. Nothing was different than the night before (using C-PAP to help breathing) and it was cool enough outside (50 degrees F) I had the heat on.

I'm glad that on Friday I managed to go into the studio for a half hour and glaze the last piece I've made. And I have 2 more ready to bisque fire. I'm signed up to do some clay work tomorrow afternoon. Who knows if I will feel up to it.

I keep thinking that I could bounce through things like his easily 10 years ago. I wonder where the step was on what threshold where I'd no longer have bounce capability.

That would be nice to go back to and see how I could change it.

Mmm, time travel eh?

I warned someone yesterday that I had a fever and might express the feverish thoughts that come my way. Sorry about that.

I think I'll take a nap.

Fighting the bug

Well, not the virus which everyone has had, or avoided having for the last 3 years...the one that I caught has made my life miserable.

On top of a cough that usually is bothersome mostly in the evenings, I've begun coughing all day long. That's tiresome in itself.

But fevers of 100, or 101 aren't so great. I feel really washed out, and take Tylenol or Ibuprophen, and then can function.

BUT it's like walking around feeling like I'm only halfway there. I have to watch each step.  Yep, a bit of virtigo that is no fun if I have to bend forward. I feel like I might keep bending down forever.

OK, you have no idea what fun this is not. So I'll just say after a friend thoughtfully drove me around to doctor and X-Ray imaging of my lungs, it was determined that I definitely have pneumonia. So tomorrow I have some new antibiotic to start. It was too late to get it filled this afternoon.

But I was well enough to eat a take-out of Baja Shrimp Taco and beans and rice from Ole's Guacamole. My friend was glad I didn't want the little bag of chips which were freshly cooked but somehow not to my taste these days....a paltry payment for all that time and energy she spent for me.

But she reminded me of Ram Dass' saying "We're all just walking each other home."

Hello World!

I finally got out of bed without a fever, and with an appetite.  This bug has kept me fasting for 6 days...though I nibbled this and that...but the fever kept coming on and on.

So I'm glad to be back among the living again!

Catch up? I don't think that will ever happen.  But I can slowly move into the new space and time that is mine to do with as I choose.

So I'm very grateful for the attention of my local doctor.  I saw his Physician's Assistant twice already this week, and will see her again Fri. morning.  And she's provided me with drugs, as well as soothing words.  But the fever was really strong and wouldn't go down for love nor money...nor tylenol nor ibuprofen.

But my main thought today is how each symptom is being treated, with this drug or another.  Yet I'm full of different symptoms having to do with the different functions of my body.  It' got to be connected somehow.  I've always seen "side-effects" of drugs, which often didn't have a thing to do with what was being treated.

But I really wish someone would be able to treat a WHOLE ME.  I think there are some who do that, and I'm going to investigate it further.  It just makes sense than continual coughing and needing to clear my lungs of very thick mucous might have something to do with irritable bowel where there's too much fluid, and the opposite of what's happening in my lungs.  ???

So the Medical people just smile when I suggest that.  But hey, I may have hit on a new specialty...pulmonary-gastroenterology.

For now, I hope I can at least do some laundry soon!  That my big goal for this week.
See you in the funny papers...
