Black Mountain College

Black Mountain Center for the Arts (web page here) has a small exhibit about and by the artists from Black Mountain College, which was located here for the short life-span (27 years) of its existence.  There is a museum located in Asheville which has permanent displays about the college (Here).

And it has influenced art and education ever since, by it's students as well as the innovative activities in learning that happened there.  Buckminster Fuller, John Cage, M.C. Richards, and other well know names in art, education and literature, took part in this experiential college.

The former campus at Lake Eden now has summer camps, as well as two music concerts annually.

  1. That last photo looks like a very calm, inviting place!

    1. I think the photo was taken before the zip-line was installed, enabling brave souls to zip down above the water and splash in near the shore.

So glad to have your comments...whatever they may be. I'm one who likes to reply sometime or another, so others will see that; or you might happen back sometime and see what conversation might have started.
