Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

First snow of the season

Still coming down.  This may not be as interesting as other photos, but it's changing my plans for the day...which were to be outside walking through stalls of potters in Dillsboro.  I am waiting for the street to be clear enough to climb a big hill (three times as long and much steeper than mine) to go feed a friend's cats.

    1. Yes, the high winds do make things a lot more difficult to be out in the snow.

  3. Oh -- I have been reading the news about many places in the east getting snow -- and lo and behold your town is one of them! I always like the first snow fall if I don't have to travel the roads. Now in the Pacific Northwest I have very little snow in the winter -- if at all. Stay safe on the roads -- barbara

    1. Thanks for your safety wishes, I'll sure take all the ones offered! Snow was gone on Sun, except on the higher peaks
