Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

Why it's called the Blue Ridge

Blue...yes.

I was glad to see the Parkway open again to Mt. Mitchell.  But the weather wasn't quite up to driving that far today.

I'll show you how far I went tomorrow.  I did get to the Craggy Gardens area...and shot lots of photos.

Quote for the day:
After an orange cloud — formed as a result of a dust storm over the Sahara and caught up by air currents — reached the Philippines and settled there with rain, I understood that we are all sailing in the same boat.    Vladimir Kovalyonok (Astronaut)
