Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

They stayed open

The Pisgah Inn and restaurant were open on the Blue Ridge Parkway, during the government shutdown earlier this month.  First they were the only place open, then the government closed them, then they were open again.  They are privately owned and operated, so it makes sense.

A sweet little gift shop by the restaurant

Mt. Pisgah itself
Simple and clean lines of the buildings

The new name signs for motel area and restaurant are using Native American words, I'm pretty sure.

Restaurant entrance
Daily Specials...lunch from 11:30- 4, but they also do breakfast and dinner
Even on a grey day, the view on the porch is stupendous

  2. And the fish is fresh catch from a local fishery too! I've had it and it's wonderful

  3. I've never been there -- it certainly looks worth a visit.
