Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

No grey days here

Even if the sun doesn't shine, the colors of leaves give brilliance to grey days.

Here I've stopped on the Parkway to see what this sign is talking about...

It's Looking Glass Rock...the huge bluff above me.  Here the sign talks about how it was created, as well as how various people have used it.  And the cliff is actually a Pluton, a geological feature.  The name came from how the sheer face shines when there's water on it, becoming a huge "looking glass."

  1. Wow - that's impressive! Have you seen it with the sun shining on it?

    1. No, I can't wait till leaves have fallen and I'll visit it again, and hope to see the "looking glass effect."

So glad to have your comments...whatever they may be. I'm one who likes to reply sometime or another, so others will see that; or you might happen back sometime and see what conversation might have started.
