The browning mountains

There are little streaks of white in the distance (left of the dead tree) showing the strip mining of feldspar at Spruce Pine NC.

Leaving the Blue Ridge Parkway for US 80, which traverses many switchbacks between Burnsville and Marion NC.

Usually there are other shades of yellow and orange, but this journey at the end of Oct had mainly shades of brown.

  1. Hello, the mountains still look beautiful even after the leaves have fallen.
we had some leaves go from green to brown, I think our weather condition are the blame.Pretty views and photos. Happy Monday, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!

  2. Yep, that was one quickly passing show of color. But now we an enjoy seeing the contours and the bones of the landscape revealed.

  3. Beautiful photos anyway, even without the color!

  4. Dramatic views. I imagine the companies involved don't much care about remediation of the ground around their mines.
