Once you get the horse in good shape,

... and the house, then where do you go with horse, and return to nice house? I see my physical beingness as the horse. And my mental as the rider. The goal, or direction we're riding in is my spiritual aspect of being, for this metaphor.

I'm feeling particularly good about my physical health today. This is the 4th anniversary of my heart attack and receiving a stent on my LAD of my heart. And I am incredibly grateful for the care I received from Mission Hospital staff at that time, when COVID had just begun to be the treatment nightmare that it was for so many. Very glad to have had these last 4 years of life also!

I woke this morning without groaning aches, though my limbs were stiff still.  A good night's sleep, as far as I can remember. Not the 4 o'clock hours of tossing and turning at least! After the physical review (annual for insurance) and doing some real back muscle work at Pys. Therapy, I am thrilled to not have sore shoulders either. So all things a plus.

And a big plus of my putting away clean dishes this morning, which usually sit in the drainer till I use them.

So I cooked a really good lunch yesterday, because the lunch program was closed for a GOP runoff election. I'll share some pics of what I put together. But later at dinner I only had a chocolate shake protein drink, and some nuts. I think the big meal being digested earlier in the day may have helped my sleep.

It was delicious and not too spicy, which the Indian dishes are if not eaten over rice. Half an avocado went well with everything. Shrimp had been thawed and nuked just 15 seconds, and they could have been hotter, but were a bit tough anyway.

This is certainly not a meal I would have at the Lakeview Senior Center!  But it did mean I cleaned up the kitchen in the afternoon while I still had plenty of energy!

And speaking of the Senior Center, I need to get ready for Sit-R-Cise class now. But first here's what I saw there on Mon. morning.

Nobody at my table knew who it belonged to. I'm thinking maybe the social worker who comes to give a talk on some Monday mornings before lunch!

Yesterday, today and tomorrow

From yesterday (first off) here's an article about "Intheoaks" that was written before it became Montreat College in Black Mountain, as I posted in yesterday's blog.

Yesterday
And more recently another auto manufacturer (VW) became unionized by its workers.

I'm quite interested in news about the students' demonstrating on various college campuses and how various armed law enforcement personnel confronted them on Thursday, April 25. The students started weeks ago demonstrating against the hostilities killing innocent people in Gaza. Then the Jewish students were asked to study remotely by the administration of a few universities, to protect them from any "anti-Semitism."

So on the NBC news on April 25, I saw a long article about the college demonstrations all over the US. The UCLA demonstrations have meant they canceled the commencement ceremony. I also saw police arresting many students and faculty at different colleges. Then I wrote my son to see if his two college students were involved. He said yes, the daughter attending George Washington University, in DC, was right in the middle of things. (photo below)

Needless to say, this grandmother is feeling proud but a bit worried about her well being. I'm proud that she's demonstrating for a cause that is to promote peace, in stopping the war in Gaza. I'm worried that the violence from law enforcement isn't interested in peace as its goal.

The very short clip of the Ohio State University demonstrators (below) looked pretty orderly. I don't think my other granddaughter is involved, or her father would have told me. I'm going to see her graduate in a week.

Run around day

One day of each week seems to be the run around day. So I dropped by my favorite car fixer place to get my tires checked, and blown up to proper temperature. No charge. But I'll schedule an oil change soon.

Go to dentist office to  sign the release form to send to the other dentist with X-rays. Hope this will allow me to have a good consultation see below!

I walked up the stairs to the second floor, with a break for huffing and puffing on the landing. These windows gave a view at the top of the YMCA at Cheshire. Going downstairs was much easier.

More trees in that area.

I had a good consultation with another dentist (who I've seen in the past) to consider what to do about my front teeth. The worst one broke off just before my cousins came to visit! I tried gluing it back on, but it came back off before I even tried to eat. The cement was designed for crowns, not front teeth.  So I've now got a simple plan that I can afford, and it will keep me smiling the rest of my life...however long that may be!
