Painter's Nursery

A nursery that opens only in the spring, and probably does a lot of wholesale sales, is a great place for us Sunday gardeners too...low prices and healthy plants, and answers to questions.

The signs along the highway are small, and always we think, is this it yet?  But no, we eventually find it.

With the cold and late spring this year, there aren't as many plant outside as at this time last year, but we were so happy to see real bathrooms rather than the line of blue Port-O-Lets.

The only veggies out were cold hardy ones like spinach, cabbage, kale and broccoli.

Inside the huge greenhouse I found an interesting bloom (the out of focus kind) on a Spanish (or maybe Mexican) Lavender.

A sweet visitor fluttered around some other blooms.  And yes, I did succumb to purchasing a few little pretties for my container gardening this year.  More on that later...

Quote for the day:
Be contented with what you possess in life; be thankful for what does not belong to you, for it is so much care the less; but try to obtain what you need in life, and make the best of every moment of your life.

  2. Love gardens although it was one thing I had to give up when I moved to Vancouver. Now I just enjoy other people's gardens. What nice healthy plants in your post. My gardens were mostly veggies and wildflowers. -- barbara

  3. Oh, just look at all those plants - and that pretty Butterfly that you caught. We have only 14 degrees this morning, so spring is really having a hard time breaking through. It is sunny out though. lol
