Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

Florence Sat updates...

8 am here's a link to the radar...I don't know if it will stay the same or update throughout the day.  This is new stuff to me...though the rain coming will just be the same old thing.  I thought as I woke up a while ago, I'd better cook some of the sausage that's in the freezer, so I can eat it if the power goes out. (when?)

If you hit the play button, apparently it updates to the latest hour!

We got gentle falling rain in Black Mountain at 9:30 am.  I went to the tailgate market and got some necessities.

Or here's the NOA map of current forecast of path, very slow moving storm, and the winds have somewhat abated, which is good.  The amount of water isn't.  I heard on last night's report on the Weather Channel that it's about 500 miles across.  It's cloudy here this morning.

  1. Thanks for the update. Lokslike here in southern RI we will be getting more rain. Toes crossed there is little wind.

  3. I feel so sorry for the yard sale at church...oodles of things to keep dry...and hopefully sell. Hope you have good sweet potatoes!
