Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

First snow yesterday

Not very much.  Considering what's forecast for this weekend.

People are already talking about canceling church on Sunday.

Fortunately it warmed up about an hour later and everything melted on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

  1. Hello, I do not mind a dusting of snow. But the big accumulations can be a pain. I hope it is not too bad there. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

  2. We had about three inches on Wednesday but it's melting now. Bracing for more this weekend.

  3. We've been having snow now for the better part of a month, and it seems to be sticking around for the duration. Hopefully your area adjusts to it smoothly.

  4. You dear Canadian folks are set to deal with snow, William. In our mountains, there is usually a difficulty for several days when it snows (especially if deeply.) The roads are treated if they are main thoroughfares. But we don't have snow continuously, so most people don't know how to drive on snow, and nobody has snow tires or chains. So schools close and all kinds of county services stop when it snows. We're in "the south" which is an unfortunate label.

So glad to have your comments...whatever they may be. I'm one who likes to reply sometime or another, so others will see that; or you might happen back sometime and see what conversation might have started.
