I inadvertantly deleted John's post...which told me where I could find some Dawn Redwoods in NC! So I tried the DuckDuckGo search and found this..."Somewhere in the Sauraton Mountains of North Carolina, lies the Crescent Ridge Dawn Redwoods Preserve," which won't be opened until 2035 apparently. There is a photo of the man who's heading up the preserve efforts standing next to a Dawn Redwood in Durham NC. So I know one is available for me to see, somewhere. I hope John got my apology and will give me the link he suggested again!
No problem, Barbara. The link I sent you was the same one you found I think - didn't realise it wasn't open yet. The link was: http://dawnredwood.org/ However it's quite likely that there are others in public parks and gardens in the area as they were widely planted as ornamental trees.
Oh goodie, I may have seen the one at the Biltmore Estate, as I've wandered their beautiful gardens several times. And soon I bet I'll do it again and find the Dawn Redwood! Thanks John!
So glad to have your comments...whatever they may be. I'm one who likes to reply sometime or another, so others will see that; or you might happen back sometime and see what conversation might have started.
Hello,

I also found a reference to a Dawn Redwood growing in the garden of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC.
