This just shows the average low temperatures. Sorry, it is calling itself the hardiness zones.
The highway going through the tunnel is I-40 near the Tennessee border - in North Carolina. Hopefully the rain that came through on Tuesday Nov. 21 may have put a damper on this fire. As of the evening of the 23rd it was 1700 acres and 79% contained. Still a smoke problem on the interstate, and the Appalachian Trail is still closed in that area.
Today's quote:
I've also seen that great men are often lonely. This is understandable, because they have built such high standards for themselves that they often feel alone. But that same loneliness is part of their ability to create. -Yousuf Karsh, portrait photographer (1908-2002)
The wildfires are scary, I hope this one stays under control and contained. The deer and kitty photo is so cute.
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your day and have a great new week!
I have fear of wildfires, and they seem to occur whenever there's a long period without rain in the mountains. Have a great week yourself!
Delete...average low temperatures are only part of hardiness.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed. Frosts? High winds? So many things plants have to take into consideration.
DeleteI'm wondering if wildfires there are common in late fall. We usually have them here in California, but this year has thankfully been quiet... so far. (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear CA hasn't had wildfires this year. Ours occur whenever there's a long period without rain...so I don't know when they might usually happen.
DeleteSometimes we have gorse fires and they spread fast. We haven't had any this past summer.
ReplyDeleteI have been worried about the fires here in WV, and about the dry, dry conditions in my area too. I am thankful for the recent rain, even though it has not been nearly enough.
ReplyDeleteKarsh left quite a legacy- and he was a Canadian.
