I love the dancing figure hanging from the back balconies of the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. However, she is hanging by the neck...which gives a rather negative connotation to "what you'll end up with if you're an artist!"

There are days like that!

Hwy 221 North in front of the John English Farm in North Cove, North Carolina. near Linville Caverns, 1930 and 2022. I've travelled that road many times on day trips to Linville Falls. From Black Mountain we go east on I-40 to Old Fort, then on US 70 to Marion, and turn north on 221 where it intersects.

Huge photo of a NY Delli in our recently opened Zelle's Delli in Swannanoa. It's food may be made mostly in-house, but we found it about a 3 star outfit...though lots of people showed up in lines after we'd received our order shortly after they opened. My Rueben was just ok, friend's pastrami had the same result, as well as friend's roast beef. 

Two views of the dam at Lake Tomahawk from the car this week. I was too tired from exercise to walk down there to get more photos. Looks like they should be planting something in the dirt next.

A year ago I blogged about quitting my volunteer position (earlier than I would have liked) without any appreciation. Yes I had made mistakes. And all my proof readers weren't available either! So it was an issue on all of us. Anyway, here's that link Saying Goodbye to Volunteer Position.

  By the time most of you are reading this, I will be at my dental clinic having my teeth cleaned at 7:30 am. Then I'll think about breakfast! I know AC will be up way before me, but he's exceptional.

Me at the dermatologist's - all is well.

Me after accidentally giving myself several skin tears over several days...and getting a nurse to give me first aid. The finger tear is back at the knuckle joint, but she just got crazy wrapping it up! Fortunately they are both healing fine. I still don't wash dishes...wonder how long that will go on. I've got rubber gloves.

Yesterday we had a US map with low temperature averages. This Dymaxion Map by Buckminster Fuller allows us to see appropriate sizes of each continent by cutting the globe in a different way from the often misleading Mercator version. Sorry Canada, you shrink to your real size!

Art Gallery additions

The Red House Gallery will have its current exhibition up for another couple of weeks.  I enjoyed being docent one Sunday afternoon recently, and snapped a few more photos to share.

 This quilted piece is lovely.

 Mac Read's Girl on the Rocks made me very uncomfortable. Another artist (male) just thought it was a great juxtaposition of textures. I guess I had empathy for the model lying against the rocks/

 It's so hard to photograph art behind glass.

 A huge line drawing won first prize (worth some amount of dollars).  I didn't see it as the best expression of these artists, but I wasn't asked to be the juror.

I liked the following fabric piece, both for topic and the way it was assembled. It didn't get the blue ribbon, though.
