I couldn't find my earlier photos of dismissing this trench of rocks as being a bit of overkill for the parking lot drainage by the lake.
But just look. It is full of water!
We've had 11 days straight with measurable amounts of rain (not continuous of course) as of last Friday. And it's due to continue all next week too.

...this one looks great. At our Costco, they have rain gardens in the parking lot. When there is a dry spell, the plants die and the gardens look horrible.
ReplyDeleteThat's sad, to have the plants die completely.
DeleteThe weather, she is a changin.
ReplyDeleteSo true...and with a bit of a tune as well!
DeleteThey do serve a purpose as you discovered.
ReplyDeleteThe designers knew apparently how much water from the parking lot would go into the lake. But the rest of the area drains into the lake anyway.
DeleteInteresting concept of a rain garden. There are small seasonal ponds like that as well. Beloved of the traveling geese. Thanks for sharing. Aloha
ReplyDeleteOur lake is a target for the geese. I haven't seen any in the rain garden yet. But if it has something they like to eat...
DeleteBeautiful , fresh looking garden- Water is always a soother...in moderation.
ReplyDeleteGlad to think about the moderation part, as the extremes are very dangerous.
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea! It looks so lush.
ReplyDeleteIt has definitely been given enough water this month.
DeleteThat's a nice looking garden.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised how good it looks now.
DeleteOh, please send me some rain. We are still in a drought and there are water usage restrictions in all the towns around here.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some rather wet summers here, if I remember correctly. Lots of my plants failed from the damp. So sorry about drought areas, and especially those with wildland fires.
DeleteStill dry, dry, dry here too. I have just about given up trying to water, it is just not near enough to keep everything healthy. Rain keeps being predicted but never comes.
ReplyDeleteOh I'd gladly send you some. I think today is the first in several weeks where we didn't have a thunderstorm, or at least some rain. So sad that drought is happening elsewhere.
