Black Mountain

The greening of the mountains from Tanbark Ridge overlook, elevation 3175 feet, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. The road seen in upper left is the parkway as it continues northeast. Can you see the little houses, including my favorite, the red roofed one?

The Greening of the Mountains 2

A south facing cut where the Parkway meanders shows lovely green grass (planted of course) and then the sharp green buds against the trees further up-slope where branches are still bare.

Is that a source of pollen, I wonder?

Most definitely.

Photos today are all from the Tanbark Ridge overlook area.

  1. Beautiful! Isn't it wonderful to drive up to the higher elevations and see the difference in spring?
