A beautiful rhododendron near my apartment.
This is what's left of my mountain laurel, which was over-pruned this winter before budding.
These photos of the peonies were taken on Wed. May 10. They looked so beautiful, and had a sweet scent. I even noticed they'd enticed some ants to do whatever they do to peonies.

Beautiful collection of pretty flowers. Take care, have a wonderful new week.
ReplyDeleteTHanks Eileen...the time of flowers has arrived. Have a good week too!
Delete...pruning is a misunderstood art.
ReplyDeleteIt surely is. But when well done, it produces healthy plants with more blooms. When hacked like this, I just want to cry.
DeleteThat is the thing with peonies.
ReplyDeleteAnd nobody was effective in tying them up. If I'd only had a couple of sturdy stakes and a hammer...then some string. Sigh. We have to accept that we aren't in charge here.
DeleteSuch beautiful peonies!
DeleteSpring is so beautiful blooming there. I love seeing the flowers you photograph.
ReplyDeleteSpring looks so beautiful in your area, Barbara. We are very behind this year as it has been a very cool and rainy spring for us. I hope my knock out roses were not killed by our very cold winter--so far they are still brown. Yours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose make such a cheerful sight.
ReplyDeleteI have buds on my two peonies. Waiting to see what colors they are as I inherited them. Mention of Warren Wilson College brings back vague memories of a visit there when we lived in Atlanta in mid 60s.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll these flowers, so pretty! Ants eat the waxy cover on peony buds, allowing the flowers to open. Without the ants, they wouldn't be able to bloom. Isn't nature interesting?
