A mural of the Yellow Brick Road from the Wizzard of Oz. It's interesting that the court house is their destination. It's on a wall in Burnsville, NC, the county seat of Yancy county. There used to be a theme park nearby in the Appalachian Mountains. I think it's closed now. The weather has not been kind to this painting.
And Toto too! With the artists signature (Rhea Ormond, 2009) as well as a real dog bowl on the sidewalk.

Lovely mural, and I like the whimsical touch of the courthouse. I wonder why they would go there? File a complaint? Parking ticket? Disruptive behavior?
ReplyDeleteHa ha, to find their wildest dreams...from the man behind the curtain. Sure reminds me of politicians.
Delete...many murals peel with time if the wall isn't prepared properly. I love this one.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to see it going after only 14 years. It does face west however.
DeleteThat was some work. Sad to see it weathering
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful mural Barbara. Love the little dog at the bottom. Hope the damage can be repaired and the mural can last a few more years. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
ReplyDeleteThat is well done.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful mural, I like it.
ReplyDeleteThat's very cheery!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow road is sort of yellowing, as it were.
ReplyDeleteI really like this.
