A Japanese Dogwood.
The pointed petals give it away!
This tree was just starting blooming for this springtime.

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest. -Elie Wiesel, writer, Nobel laureate (1928-2016)
...this is my favorite dogwood.
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen it till recently...perhaps living here is my first exposure to it. Western North Carolina.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI also love the dogwood trees, lovely blossoms. Take care, enjoy your day!
THis is not the same as those in the woods, but cultivated and used for decorative landscaping.
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteI never realized that the petals on the dogwood were pointed like that. I love it!
ReplyDeleteOnly on this variety. The wild dogwood which occurs in our woods all over North Carolina (and elsewhere) doesn't have any pointed petals.
DeleteGorgeous trees. I like it that they bloom after the native dogwoods are finished.
ReplyDeleteThat certainly is a nice feature! They are a surprise beauty after many blooming trees are all finished for their year.
