We love used book stores!

I like the old fixtures too!

This was one of the lights above a bookcase.

A view from near the front...many bookcases!

I love Christmas villages.

This big store is operated by Friends of The Library.

The photos loaded backward, so this was their pretty entrance.

NOTE: today's weather...we were forecast to have early storms as a front moved through. It was 45 when I woke at 7, and the storms are not coming till mid-afternoon as of now. We shall see.

  1. Looks like a good store, and I like your quote at the end.

    1. Thanks. I looked for favorite authors...a million James Patterson editions, but I'm not in the mood for his works.

  2. I love them too. So much so that I'll have to buy another bookshelf before the end of winter.

    1. I really have more than I will ever read...and I'm yearning to read some that I haven't read for a few years, like old friends!

  5. The Free library on the porch of the old store next door is overflowing with used books. I took a stack there earlier this week. It's an open Used Book Store with phantom price tags reading $0. One day we hope the old store will become our new library & community center. The store owner (the widow of JD Salinger) is willing to give it to a nonprofit which will raise the money to renovate it and then give it to the town. This March the town votes at town meeting whether it will accept that gift. Can you believe some people are against it?

  6. Used bookstores, like fabric stores, are now on my no-go list. I have too many books and too much fabric as it is.

    1. Well, I still have lots of beautiful fabric, but haven't had a sewing maching for 6 years, and my hands shake too much to sew with needle and thread...but these are rayon skirts which I loved. I'll keep them even though I can't wear them. And I must stop with books! Of course I could give some away to various places...there are several little free library kiosks around town.

    1. There are really some superb ones around here...but going out of town makes it an adventure!

  9. Used bookstores are great and so are the charity shops here. It's hard to pass up 3 books for a euro and there is no problem finding three.

    1. Great price. I think buying just 2 books on this trip was a good thing for me to do. My friend Teresa brought some donations to the used book store.

  10. I love them too. And have too many books, like most of the commenter here! I have been trying to downsize my collection but its not nearly as easy as I hoped. Too many favorites!
