Not just the elements

Wonderful sunshine and last week's clear air...water of Lake Tomahawk cradled in the Black Mountains of the Appalachians.

This is an informative display panel describing the seven sisters mountains, as seen from that same point on the dam.

A new Greenway Read-Aloud Walking trail. The panels are set to the sides of the path, so people can stop and read them without impeding the flow of walkers.

New display panels are of interest for children

A lot of effort went into making these panels. I do hope the usal graffiti cynics leave them alone.

Today's quote:

"Don't write about what you know — write about what you're interested in. Don't write about yourself — you aren't as interesting as you think." Tracy Chevalier

    1. I like that the signs are geared for children. Even those who can't read yet. One says, "can you be like a cloud?"

  2. ...I'm hoping that our recent rains help to cleanse the smoke from our skies.

    1. Same here. Also depends on wind direction. But the major changes aren't daily differences, but the huge ones that make up our climate changes.

  3. Pretty views of the lake, I like the fountain too. It is still hazy here, looking forward to some clear sky days. Take care, enjoy your day and have a happy new week!

    1. That it is, though I can't be hiking on the trails in the mountains these days. I'll leave that to the more agile folks, not necessarily younger.

  7. I like this trend of providing information along walkways. So much to learn, but made accessible. The lake is lovely, Barb.

    1. This new info series of signs is of interest the first time you go around reading them. Then I prefer seeing nature in it's varieties.

    1. Thank you very much. I don't have HD on my laptop screen, so am never sure how much really looks in focus for others, with just my iPhone photos. I keep on trying though!

  9. I like informational signs and will often stop to read them especially historical ones. Is graffiti a problem there?

    1. We have sometimes had graffiti sprayed in certain areas (not the Lake fortunately) and the police are patrolling more to keep an eye out.
