At the Tailgate Market on Sat. July 29, 2023

It is HUGE! No wonder they have maps now!

This area behind the First Baptist Church on Montreat Rd. in Black Mountain has wonderful old oaks giving shade to a lot of the space. Where there's sunshine, at least people have the tents.

That's the line I decided not to wait in, for the wonderful fresh tomatoes I'd come to buy. I got some others, not so wonderful!

Today's quote:

Don't forget to enjoy the beauty right in front of you.

  1. ...thankfully some had the foresight to plant trees years ago!

    1. I dare say there might have been trees when the town was formed. Though these probably aren't quite that old.

  2. Hello,
It is nice that the market has some shade trees and the tents do help. We have had some really hot days here lately. Sorry you missed getting your fresh tomatoes. Take care, have a happy weekend.

    1. It's tomato season, so I found more elsewhere! The heat is really something this year. Be safe.

    1. It's amazing how it's grown, new manager this year is full of ideas. And the site just begs for marketing. The church which owns it has improved the roughness of the terraine as well, so I don't have to be so careful walking as I have in the past.

  4. I hadn't realized the scope of it.

    1. It has definitely spread. Now vendors don't get to park and work out of their own tailgates (mostly) but have the closest parking lot for them. So customers have to walk quite a ways from the church parking lots. It's pretty nicely spread now.

    1. I need to go another early summer Saturday. Today I was getting breathing treatments too late, not to mention there's an Art Festival in town, so lots of visitors adding to traffic. Maybe next Saturday!
