At the Swannanoa Valley Museum and History Center!
A friend who's an artist created these figures, Jerry Pope.
This String Band sits on an old time radio...where many people used to sit in their living rooms to listen to so many shows.
Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain, though she grew up elsewhere. We've adopted her though.
I do love folk music. And some blue grass. And a bit of country.
One of my favorite songs of Roberta Flack..."The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face..."
Today's quote:
Times of scarcity need to be met with generosity, times of fear with comfort, times of uncertainty with presence. |
THOMAS HÜB Four more days till Winter Solstice when the light returns |
I love the String Band characters! Take care, have a great day and happy new week!
ReplyDeleteJerry Pope is a very accomplished artist here. These figures had been in storage at the museum, and you can imagine how difficult it was to keep them from getting damaged (which happened). I'm glad Jerry was able to revive them.
Delete...I didn't know that Roberta Flack was a hometown girl. It's wonderful to see the mural, something to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteYes, having such a small town, it's great to see someone who made it big musically!
DeleteI love the string band!
ReplyDeleteYes, waiting for the light! Meanwhile, (battery) candles all through the house. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLovely post! I like the figures by Jerry Pope and the solstice image is beautiful.
