Don't forget the Redbuds

While chasing various types of blossoms this spring, daffodils, forsythia, pear trees, cherry trees - I also saw the delicate Redbud trees in different places  around town and in the woods.

They used to be the first to show themselves, but for some reason this year, they are a bit tardy.

All along the railroad tracks by US 70 west and the Ingles Warehouse, are these redbud trees.

And still blooming, a weeping cherry tree as of 3.28.24. I can now tell the difference between a redbud blossom and a cherry blossom!

Today's quote:

“I’m only a jolly storyteller and have nothing to do with politics or schemes and my only plan is the old Chinese way of the Tao: Avoid the authorities.”

Jack Kerouac (1922-1969)

    1. Glad to share our fleeting spring...today won't be warm at all, and snow perhaps (which might stick on the peaks which I can perhaps see at least from a distance).

    1. That's what happened here this spring.. I don't remember cherries having been before them in years past...but maybe just because they are located in urban yards, while most redbuds were along roads in the wild forest.

  4. Curious , I don't think I have ever seen a redbud tree- is it because I live in the PNW ? The trees along the tracks are story telling!

    1. when I tried to find its range, I only found that it was actually called Eastern Redbud. Of course the trees along the tracks aren't like the wild ones out in the woods. Wonder what your first springtime flowering trees are there in PNW?

  5. I love seeing spring blooming there and the beautiful blue skies. I also love that you have a Kerouac quote today. I'm a big fan, which explains why we named our old blog The New Dharma Bums! (NewRobin13)

    1. I never thought of that, Robin. Dharma isn't a word I use that often. Will have to let it soak in a while.

  6. Nice pics of the redbuds. Our redbuds are in full bloom here in Western Kentucky, but my cherry tree blooms are done. I love when Spring arrives and brings so much beauty from nature.

    1. We've had high winds to day (Thursday) and so many blooms may be blown away. They say the wind will keep a freeze from happening tonight. But still expect snow in the highest mountains. I'll try to go get photos if they have it still in the morning.

  7. Oh how I love the Redbud trees, saw them first in the Smokies. We have two growing in our yard, but have to trim them to large shrub size.

  12. I love your quote! I've never thought I would feel that way. I have a Japanese cherry tree in front of my house, but sadly it doesn't look well. I may have to cut it down. Gladly, there are many cherry, apple an pear trees on the property that start blooming. All the best to you, Regula

    1. Our expected snow probably won't stick, because it was in the high 70s for the last 3 days. I hope you don't have to pull out the snowblower for that little amount, and that it melts soon!

  14. So pretty! I am afraid the blooms may get bit in the next few days, with the weather we are getting.
