The rain garden is working

These photos were taken Thursday, July 25, 2024.

I couldn't find my earlier photos of dismissing this trench of rocks as being a bit of overkill for the parking lot drainage by the lake.

But just look. It is full of water!

We've had 11 days straight with measurable amounts of rain (not continuous of course) as of last Friday. And it's due to continue all next week too.

  1. ...this one looks great. At our Costco, they have rain gardens in the parking lot. When there is a dry spell, the plants die and the gardens look horrible.

  2. They do serve a purpose as you discovered.

    1. The designers knew apparently how much water from the parking lot would go into the lake. But the rest of the area drains into the lake anyway.

  3. Interesting concept of a rain garden. There are small seasonal ponds like that as well. Beloved of the traveling geese. Thanks for sharing. Aloha

    1. Our lake is a target for the geese. I haven't seen any in the rain garden yet. But if it has something they like to eat...

    1. Glad to think about the moderation part, as the extremes are very dangerous.

  7. Oh, please send me some rain. We are still in a drought and there are water usage restrictions in all the towns around here.

    1. We've had some rather wet summers here, if I remember correctly. Lots of my plants failed from the damp. So sorry about drought areas, and especially those with wildland fires.

  8. Still dry, dry, dry here too. I have just about given up trying to water, it is just not near enough to keep everything healthy. Rain keeps being predicted but never comes.

    1. Oh I'd gladly send you some. I think today is the first in several weeks where we didn't have a thunderstorm, or at least some rain. So sad that drought is happening elsewhere.

So glad to have your comments...whatever they may be. I'm one who likes to reply sometime or another, so others will see that; or you might happen back sometime and see what conversation might have started.
