After the sunset

At Lake Tomahawk, I was finishing my supper, and enjoying the interactions between owners of dogs. They were pretty interesting...the owners sometimes were more expressive than the dogs!

And then pop pop, whiz whiz, and there were redish gold streaks in the sky. Now where did they come from?

I knew this distance with only a phone camera, I couldn't zoom into the flickering of fire in the woods to the right of the road going up the hill in the center. You might be able to see just a pin prick of its color in those dark trees. On that night it was still warm, and not too windy for people to have a fire circle in their back yards. A day later the winds picked up and no outside burning was allowed.

I'm partial to the vista, though I know others prefer to see what's over there, not just a hint of a house. I haven't retouched these at all...though may have straightened them when they looked a bit sideways.

Gratefulness is the gallantry of a heart ready to rise to the opportunity a given moment offers.

Today's quote:

“Freedom and love go together.
Love is not a reaction.
If I love you because you love me,
that is mere trade,
a thing to be bought in the market;
it is not love.
To love is to not ask anything in return,
not even to feel that you are giving something.
And it is only such love that can know freedom.”

- J. Krishnamurti

This is also true of the love we show ourselves. Oftentimes we won’t allow our mind to be peaceful and content until we achieve some goal in return… why?

You have the power to feel happy and free right now - once you let go of any self-imposed rules that you’re holding on to.

A parting question - what’s stopping you?

So glad to have your comments...whatever they may be. I'm one who likes to reply sometime or another, so others will see that; or you might happen back sometime and see what conversation might have started.
