The other dogwood tree

 A Japanese Dogwood.

The pointed petals give it away!

This tree was just starting blooming for this springtime.

    1. THis is not the same as those in the woods, but cultivated and used for decorative landscaping.

    1. Only on this variety. The wild dogwood which occurs in our woods all over North Carolina (and elsewhere) doesn't have any pointed petals.

  4. Gorgeous trees. I like it that they bloom after the native dogwoods are finished.

    1. That certainly is a nice feature! They are a surprise beauty after many blooming trees are all finished for their year.
